The game will be played on handicap over 6 chukkas and Uruguay will be playing for the iconic Coronation Cup for the first time.
Captained by James Harper, the England team also features two players following in their father’s footsteps: Louis Hine, who at just 16 years old is believed to be the youngest player to ever compete in the Coronation Cup and whose father Andrew captained England many times, and Tommy Beresford whose father Charles was also a regular for the England team.
Anna Hall, Chief Executive of the Hurlingham Polo Association, says ‘The event is intended to be a real spectacle of polo with the Coronation Cup being the jewel in the crown of the day. With well-matched and strong teams being announced today we should be in for a hugely exciting game.’
The prestigious international event returns to Guards Polo Club, its long-standing home, after 5 years. This year in addition to the Coronation Cup, the event will showcase polo throughout the full age ranges from pony club and youth through to a university match.
