An England team will play against teams from New Zealand in two international test matches on the North and South Islands later this month.
On 31 January 2025, the England team of captain James ‘Jimbo’ Fewster (5), Will Harper (5), Ben Malasomma (3), and Charlotte Pykett (1), with Ollie Jones (3) as reserve, will play at Mystery Creek Polo Club on New Zealand’s North Island, as part of Mystery Creek Polo Week.
The will be followed by a second fixture on 6 February at Glenmark Polo on the South Island played by Jimbo Fewster (5), Ollie Jones (4), Ben Malasomma (3), and Charlotte Pykett (1) with Cody Jones (2) as reserve.
Captain Jimbo Fewster made his senior England debut in 2024, when playing New Zealand for the coveted Golden Jubilee Trophy at Beaufort Polo Club. The England team were narrowly defeated on this occasion, so our captain will be playing with a score to settle. Will Harper returns to the England team following an incredible win in the Young England v Young Argentina game for the Whitbread Tankard as part of International Day at Guards in 2024. Ben Malasomma has previously played for Young England, while Charlotte Pykett has been the breakout star of England’s women’s internationals in 2023 and 2024, with wins against the USA and Argentina.
The New Zealand team for both matches is:
Lachie Appleby (3)
Sam Martin (3)
Guy Higginson (4)
Charlie Wood (3)
Reserve: Henry Bachelor (2)
Details on how to watch will be released shortly.
