It is with sadness that the HPA reports that longtime member Derek Clitherow passed away on 22nd February 2024.
In 1976 Derek joined Rhinefield Polo Club, which was founded in 1935 and is now New Forest Polo Club, where he enjoyed many years of polo. He was also a member of Tidworth, Ansty, and Taunton Polo Clubs and over the years played at many more. Derek became Polo Manager at Rhinefield for a period of time, before taking on the role of Chairman, and also spent time as an umpire. Derek leaves behind his wife Valerie and daughter Roxanne, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A small funeral for family and close friends will be arranged privately, and Derek’s wishes were for any donations to go to Horse and Donkey Charities.
