We are delighted that Badalona Breeze was awarded the ROR Elite Award for polo at the Retraining of Racehorses Awards in Newmarket on 31 January 2024.
The 11-year-old mare by Big Bad Bob was bred by Peter and Susan Jones out of Rose Mandarin, by Tiger Hill. She raced five times under rules for Mick Appleby, before being retrained by Charles Seavill.
Under her playing name Biento, she has enjoyed great success with South Africa’s Chris Mackenzie, with the pair winning Most Valuable Player and ROR Best Playing Pony following their performance in the 2023 Coronation Cup.
Badalona Breeze is a fantastic ambassador for the huge number of former racehorses who have found their second careers playing polo, where they are prized for their speed, athleticism, and trainability. We look forward to seeing her in action in 2024!
