The HPA celebrated the retirement of David Woodd and Lucy Lewis on Monday 17th October at a drinks party at Little Coxwell with HPA Stewards and staff – past and present, players, umpires, family and friends all represented. Our thanks go to the Woodd family for hosting the event.
Both David and Lucy have been at the core of the HPA for well over 20 years and the HPA and its members owe them both a huge debt of gratitude for all the work they have done. With David at the forefront and Lucy often controlling behind the scenes, the duo were a formidable team and an asset to the sport for such a prolonged period of time.
Nick Wiles, Chairman of HPA, was proud to present life memberships of the HPA to both David and Lucy.
In addition, Nick Wiles presented Stephen Hutchinson with a trophy to mark his tenure as Chairman from 2016-2019.
John Tinsley (Chairman 2001-2004) led the thanks to David Woodd and his achievements marked by the presentation of a beautiful bronze of Patrick Beresford on Amberjack on behalf of HPA members. This bronze was particularly pertinent as David was loaned Amberjack, in his words, during one of his most memorable seasons playing.
Stephen Hutchinson (Chairman 2016-2019) led the thanks to Lucy Lewis and her tireless work for the HPA and presented a bronze on behalf of HPA members.
All at the HPA wish David and Lucy a very happy retirement, and we are in no doubt that we might see them at a polo match or two in the future!
