Hine leads Young England for the Whitbread

1. Alfie Hyde (3)

A star firmly on the rise, Alfie Hyde makes his International Day debut in the Whitbread and is enjoying a stellar season so far including his second victory in the Golden Jubilee and a winning Queen’s Cup quarter final debut. He’s also racked up victories in the Duke of Sutherland and the Amer Randhawa, and reached the finals of the Valerie Halford, the Tyro, and the Dollar Cup.

2. Will Harper (4)

Will Harper returns from the winning team in 2024, having also picked up a win in this match in 2023 against The Commonwealth. Will first played in the high goal aged just 15, reaching the semi-finals of the Cowdray Gold Cup, and he has also played in the semi-finals of the Queen’s Cup twice and reached the final in 2020; a major high goal victory is surely on the cards. He is also a three-time winner of the Harrison Cup and twice-winner of the Holden White and won for England in New Zealand over the winter.

3. Ned Hine (5)

Captain Ned Hine is another who returns from victory in this match last year, and he will be keen to repeat the feat in 2025. Currently playing the high goal for Signet/Thai Polo with brother Louis, with home he won the 2021 Cowdray Gold Cup. Ned is a former winner of the Prince of Wales Trophy and the Archie David, and in 2022 he was awarded the Ferguson Trophy as England’s best young player of the year.

4. Zac Beim (4)

Zac captained the England team to victory in the Golden Jubilee against Peru in 2023, and also won the same match against Ireland in 2022. Zac played the high goal in 2018 and 2020 with Park Place Vaara, and more recently played for Semper Anticus and Jolly Roger.
