On another beautiful day in the Berkshire countryside, the ultra-competitive 4 Goal Super League concluded in a match between Kulin Rock and St Paul/Cambridge Neurotech.
It was a fast-paced game with the action going right down to the wire, but the East zone winners St Paul/Cambridge Neurotech came out the winners, much to the delight of their enthusiastic support team who had made the trip to cheer their team on. The team of Adam St Paul, Tahl Holtzman, Byron Human, and Abhi Pathak edged out their rivals Karina Kaute Brown, Lolo Fontanarrosa, Nico Fontanarrosa, and Richard Bailey in a fantastic match where both sides saw plenty of action.
The winning team started with half a goal on the board owing to the difference in handicap, and it was this half a goal that made the difference, with a late goal from the Fontanarrosa duo not enough to secure the win as the clock ran out with the score at 5.5-5 to the team in white. A delighted St Paul/Cambridge Neurotech team celebrated their first title in this series, with Byron Human also picking up the Most Valuable Player prize. Nico Fontanarrosa’s beautiful grey Doc Jazz took home the Best Playing Pony prize with Maddie, by Le Cadre Noir, taking home the Best Playing ROR.
For the second match of the day, it was the HPA’s young guns who took to the field for the Performance Pathway match for the Stagshead Trophy. This time it was a victory for the Red team, with Jemima Walker, Tegan Bristow, Wilfred Bate, and Kaspar Budd finding themselves ahead at the final buzzer having defeated the Blue team of Lillia Hart, Marcus Pejkovic, Matias Maldonado, and Charlie Hipwood on a final score of 7-1. Jemima Walker was award the Most Valuable Player, while Kaspar Budd’s Toddy, sourced by Mark Tomlinson, was named Best Playing Pony.
