nominee. Fully affiliated clubs must return their voting slip by Monday 31st October 2022.
We require one vote per club.

Alexandra Hayman-Joyce (nee Skeggs)
I have been an HPA member since 2009, playing polo for ten years in the UK, with occasional travel abroad. I now
continue my passion for the game by being an umpire at White Waltham Polo Club. I believe my experience of
both aspects of the game would give me a rounded, independent perspective as a Steward on supervising
conduct, making recommendations and complaint handling. Through a thorough understanding of the rules and
how they are played in practice, it enables me to effectively consider the players’ perspective alongside the wider
responsibilities of the sport.
In my professional career, I have worked in the City for nearly 20 years, with roles in Finance and Advisory. This
has given me extensively experience with committees, official proceedings and resolving disputes, as well as
disciplinary proceedings – skills transferrable to a Steward’s role.
Finally, I can draw on my experience as an international athlete in another sport: I have eight caps for Great
Britain in shooting, including six World Cups, plus the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This gives me experience in
understanding the international complexities and impact of elite sport, involving multiple international governing
bodies, to best promote the participation, prestige and dignity of British polo.

Bilal Shaykh
My first experience of polo was a match at Guards while stopping for an ice-cream by the field, during a cycle ride
in Windsor Great Park. That was soon followed by an introductory lesson by Peter Grace at Ascot Park. This was in
the mid-nineties, and the start of my passion for polo. My work necessitated a number of international
relocations, where I joined clubs and played in the UAE, USA, Switzerland and then back to the UK. I play low goal
polo, and serve on the committee of my local club. I am also an avid watcher of high goal in the UK and Argentina.
Professionally, after a long tenure in large multinational organisations, I am now working part time with a
portfolio of strategic advisory and non-executive directorship roles. With my background and experience, I
believe I can play a part in the development of polo as a sport for amateurs, professionals and spectators.
